Spend an afternoon exploring 2D mixed media collage with a variety of provided papers, allowing you to experiment freely with color and texture—there are no wrong answers in this creative project! All materials, including a substrate, will be supplied, along with inspiring collage samples and ideas. Tracy Randall will also share techniques for making custom collage papers, and you can choose to create either a swag bunting or an accordion book.
Tracy has been a resident artist at the Dahmen Artisan Barn since its inception. She holds a degree from the University of Idaho, where she studied every art form possible, delving into both 2D and 3D mediums. Though her emphasis is in graphic design, she feels most fulfilled when creating by hand. At the Barn, Tracy focuses on fabric surface design and mixed media collage, sharing her skills and passion with others.

Textures for Design and Composition
This three-class event is intended for all students interested in discovering new methods for design. We’ll be developing the dynamics of textures in composition. You’ll gain a broader understanding of the diverse expressions you can create with brush and palette knife. You’ll create a stronger understanding of color theory in composition. Adding these tools to your painting skills will give you more alternatives to enhance your composition and strengthen the presentation of your subject.
Please look to the Artisans at the Dahmen Barn website for recommended materials. We will provide easels for your use and canvas boards for your class projects. You bring your own paints and brushes. This course will cover three weeks, 2.5n hours each Thursday mornings. If you should have to miss a class, I will be able to schedule a private make up session in my studio on the second floor. Your first canvas will be supplied. An easel will be made available for your use during the class.
All materials will be provided.

Ceramics Classes
Register By: 48 hours in advance
Take classes in any order—consecutive or à la carte. Our fully equipped studio offers classes at all levels in wheel throwing, hand building, decorating, sculpture, glazing, and tile/mosaic work. Each class covers both wheel throwing and hand building techniques. We keep class sizes small to ensure individualized attention while benefiting from the group setting. We encourage a mix of interests in each class, providing students with a broader understanding of the wide range of possibilities clay has to offer. Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced student, our Wheel and Hand Building classes are designed for you.
You can register at any time during the session. All class fees must be paid upon registration. The fee includes glazes, 25 lbs of clay, use of studio tools, and firing. For any questions about fees, contact info@artisanbarn.org. A portion of each registration supports children’s ceramics classes, with the remainder covering supplies and instructor fees.
