Katherine (Kat) Clancy fell in love with watercolor for its loose, flowing style and impressionistic quality, aiming to create art that transports viewers to another place or mood. Her goal is to have fun, stay challenged, and continually capture that fluid feeling in her work.

Kat has been immersed in art most of her life, but she began seriously studying watercolor in 1992 through private lessons with Linda Wallace. She has also trained with notable artists, including Michael Schlicting, Linda Doll, Carol Barnes, Gloria Miller Allen, Marilyn Hughey Phillis, James Soares, and Stan Miller. Kat is a member of the Palouse Watercolor Socius, Palouse Women Artists, and the Idaho Watercolor Society.

Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Moscow Food Co-op Gallery Space, Bank Left Gallery in Palouse, WA, and the Artisan Barn, with paintings juried into annual shows for the Idaho Watercolor Society, Spokane Watercolor Society, and Palouse Watercolor Society. Kat’s work is part of private collections in San Diego, Spokane, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Moscow and is on permanent display at the University of Idaho and Gritman Medical Center. Her artwork was also highlighted in the April 2006 Idaho Business IQ magazine, alongside an article on a U of I course in fine arts and business. Kat currently shares a studio at the Artisan Barn.
