🔴 Sunny Disposition 2 – SOLD

Sunny Disposition 2 mixed media abstract collage of painted tissue paper, book papers, construction paper, watercolor paper. I used yellow water soluble graphite, acrylic paints and watercolor paints, as well as acrylic markers. The substrate is a heavy, toothy watercolor paper.

my process for Sunny Disposition 2

For this piece, as well as Sunny Disposition 1, I am trying to capture the feeling of a sunny day, when I close my eyes and feel the sun on my face. The strange but comforting shapes and temperature I see from behind my closed eyelids. Also with the understanding that no matter our differences, we are all traveling on this planet together, and the sun is the engine of that movement. Having a personally Sunny Disposition can be a difficult thing for me at times.

I mixed some sunny yellow acrylic paint, as well as some watercolor paint on the surface of the toothy paper. After that was completely dry, I dabbed some gesso onto the surface, and drew some circles by hand with yellow water soluble graphite. Again I let it dry completely. At this point, I collaged on some paper circles of text book pages and construction paper, and areas of yellow tissue paper. Then, I added the circular painted shapes in yellow, white, and black. Finishing the pieces with black acrylic paint markers.
