✘ Going Through the Motions
$325.00
Going Through the Motions is an acrylic abstract painting on paper that is wrapped around a stretched canvas, and framed in a black floater frame.
my process for Going Through the Motions
This piece is part of a new body of work. This is an acrylic painting on paper, using various palette knives and a brayer to apply and spread the paint to a large sheet of heavy charcoal paper. Dabbing the paint directly on the paper and some times spritzing with water, sometimes scratching through the layers, gives interesting effects, textures, and depth. Unpredictable shapes, swooshes, and visual energy happens. Once I am happy with the composition, I wrap the paper around a stretched canvas.
11″x14″
Usually, I am looking for harmony in the chaos. For this composition specifically, I like the sense of movement beyond a broken foundation, as though things are crumbling and we are all traveling along the route as it falls away from under us.

This new body of work gravitates toward a darker colors palette and themes of instability. I make use of these themes and design elements in Are we There Yet as well.
