✘ Broken
$230.00
Broken is an acrylic abstract painting and collage on paper that is wrapped around a stretched canvas, and framed in a black floater frame.
my process for Broken
This piece is part of a new body of work. This is an acrylic painting and collage on paper, using various palette knives and a brayer to apply and spread the paint to a large sheet of heavy charcoal paper. Dabbing the paint directly on the paper and some times spritzing with water, sometimes scratching through the layers, gives interesting effects, textures, and depth. Unpredictable shapes, swooshes, and visual energy happens. Once I am happy with the composition, I wrap the paper around a stretched canvas.
9″x12″
Usually, I am looking for harmony in the chaos. For this composition specifically, I like the textures that I achieved with painting over the surface ground collage. Again, there is an overall sense of movement beyond the brokenness. This piece feels like bit of ceramic shards that have been sanded and pieced together, to create a very intricate and layered composition.

This new body of work gravitates toward a darker colors palette and themes of instability. I make use of these themes and design elements in Are We There Yet as well.
