| April | Opening 1 to 4 PM; thereafter for the month of April during open hours at the artisan barn |
"Just the
Beginning" an exhibit of paintings by resident artisan
Christie Alexandre'-Zeoli. From the beginning, it has always been the
artist's task to see just a little differently, to live and challenge cultural
and social norms and to think outside of the box; this is ever true for
Christie Alexandre-Zeoli. She is deeply moved and inspired by the
artistic traditions and great artists that have preceded her. Says Christie: My
hope is that when you see my work you are moved by the color, the texture and
the way the light falls across the elements of a painting. Let these colors
awaken in you your own individual emotions and ideas about the beauty of the
life within and around us. That is my hope and desire, that you be moved,
whether positively or negatively, by my art, and that you take away with you a
moment of being lost in the feelings of grandeur and the sublime that only come
from connecting with nature. The opening of Christies exhibit, Just
the Beginning, is scheduled for Sunday, April 6 from 1 to 4 pm at
Artisans at the Dahmen Barn. Christie will be present and refreshments will be
served. The show will run through April 27 during regular open hours of the
facility, Thursday through Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. Christie is fulfilling a lifelong dream of getting her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree at WSU and is currently a resident artisan at the Dahmen Barn. Christie lives in Uniontown with her artist husband of 20 years, Len Zeoli. She is most and always fascinated by nature. For her there is no greater inspiration and teacher than the unlimited bounty, beauty and awe that nature fills her with everyday. She seeks to convey in her work the textures, colors, light and tactile responses she feels when she is out in nature. It may come in the turn of a leaf, the bark of my favorite tree or the utter joy she feels during one of our Technicolor sunsets here on the Palouse. Much of her work is impressionistic, abstract and passionately colorful. Her paintings are a direct reflection of her personal passion, her love of life and the everyday blessings with which she is surrounded. Technically, her work is acrylic paint on canvas, but she approaches each blank canvas as a fresh exploration and employs a variety of media and techniques to achieve various expressive effects. Christie is keenly cognizant of the current state of our natural world and the consequences of human change to our environment. Her work attempts to capture the essence of the different voices of nature, to honor them and to arouse in the viewer the poignancy of the loss that we are facing as our planet and our life support system is drastically altered. Ever present in her thoughts is the scale and power of the changes we are making to the earth. She hopes to convey to you through her eyes and heart the beauty and value and of what we stand to loose should our actions continue to go un-checked. The exhibit runs through April 27. |

dynamic, structured presentation that covers topics like: How do I price my
art? Where are the best markets for my work? How do I get my name out there?
What is the easiest way to get organized in my marketing? Where are the markets
I don't know about. "This is what they should have taught me in art school!"
says Marilyn Moore, nationally known fiber artist. Instructor Jerry McCollum is owner of PalouseWorks Studio and is a multiple award-winning photographer, artist and designer. His photography studio caters exclusively to fine artists. Over the years he has helped artists become successful through his seminars and photographic services. Participants should be intermediate to advanced in art experience - all mediums welcome. Each participant should bring one representative piece of their own artwork for discussion. | May 31, Saturday | 7 PM | Suzuki Strings Concert Palouse Suzuki Strings
was founded in 1974 by a group of dedicated Suzuki method teachers who wanted
to offer group classes to their students on a weekly basis. This method of
teaching stringed instruments originated in Japan. Dr. Suzuki, the founder of
the method, believed that every child can learn to play a stringed instrument
beautifully, and that children develop musical talent is much in the same way
that they learn to speak their native language. Children begin lessons at a
young age, and enjoy many years of making music with their peers, in group
classes and in private lessons. Palouse Suzuki Strings has grown over the years
and now serves a wide community. Currently, the organization employs studio
violin, viola and cello teachers who are trained in the method to provide group
class experience for students. Private Suzuki studios in the Palouse area
collaborate on a weekly basis to offer high quality instruction to families
dedicated to the Suzuki method. For more information about Palouse Suzuki
Strings, visit our website at palousesuzuki.com. For this concert, Palouse Suzuki Strings is pleased to host a Suzuki method tour group, Mad About Music. Through this concert we hope to spread the message that music is a universal gift that binds people of different communities together. |
